Stéphane Ashpool entered the fashion industry in 2002 when he started Vida9 creative agency which produced shows for Dior, Gareth Pugh and Rick Owens. In 2008, Ashpool launched Pigalle, a streetwear brand inspired by the designer’s passion for basketball. Headquartered in a decadent Parisian neighbourhood, Pigalle has generated a whole new community, redesigning the space sandwiched into a row of buildings next to the shop into an artsy basketball court which now accommodates Ashpool’s youth team. Pigalle has also collaborated with Jordan and Nike. In 2015, Aspool won the prestigious ANDAM prize, which included a grant and mentorship from Chanel’s fashion president, marking the beginning of a friendly relationship between the two French companies. Now, Ashpool’s fame has reached the other side of the Atlantic, with pieces worn by A$AP Rocky and major NBA players. For the FW19 season, Stephan Ashpool and his creative team present the Pigalle Basketball collection which will be available in ten selected boutiques around the globe.
