Vetements

Vetements

Vetements, which is French for 'clothing', is a designer collective created by Demna and Guram Gvasalia alongside various collaborators, who include stylist Lotta Volkova. Initially, the brand worked anonymously, but later revealed itself due to the buzz around its apparel and a nomination for the coveted LMVH Prize. The brand rejects the fashion system by showing both men’s and women’s collections during Paris High Couture Fashion Week. Its SS'17 collection was made in tandem with 18 different brands, ranging from Dr. Martens and Manolo Blahnik to Brioni and Champion. Vetements is worn by everyone from music stars like G-Dragon, Rihanna, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Celion Dion, and Travis Scott to reality stars such as The Kardashians. In 2017 Vetements moved from France to Swiss and cancelled shows as it is. Instead of this they just exhibited pictures from their SS'18 lookbook in their showroom space. September 2019, Demna Gvasalia announced that he is stepping down as creative director of Vetements. The SS'20 collection presents the final looks created by the Georgian designer for the label.
