In 2015 iconic American designer Donna Karan announced she’d be stepping down as chief designer of Donna Karan International, a brand she founded in 1984, to launch a completely new project, Urban Zen. It’s not only a womenswear brand but also a nonprofit organization funding culture preservation. Among her initiatives is The Haiti Artisan Project, which she created to raise jobs and spread awareness for the cause. When it comes to clothes (actually), Karan takes a really American-vibe approach to designing a collection. She uses only essential shapes and ultimate luxury materials to create timeless pieces you can wear no matter what.
